Standard requirements for HTML5
- The recommended maximum length of animated advertisements is 30 seconds
- A fallback advertising medium in JPEG or PNG format with a size of 320 x 416 pixels must be delivered
- The fallback advertising material should not exceed a weight of 50 KB
- Define a JavaScript variable named "clickTag"
- Click tags specify target pages for each exit in the advertising medium with HTML5 assets. An exit is an area that redirects the browser to a specific target page after a click
- The click tag must contain a valid landing page URL
- Use the Enabler (Enabler.exit('clickTag'))to track exits or add a click event listener that executes window.open(window.clickTag) when the user clicks on the ad
- The target URL must be opened in a new tab (target='_blank')
- The advertising material must contain a contrast frame in the size of 1 px. so that the user can see the contrast between the advertisement and the website
- To improve loading times, use the JavaScript libraries hosted by Google
Problems with various exit incidents
- Enabler.exit(‘clickTag’) is Google's preferred modern method of registering users' clicks and opening a new tab with the target URL. It is currently supported by Google Studio, DV360 and Campaign Manager.
- window.open(window.clickTag) is the old method of registering and opening a new tab with the target URL. This implementation only works for ads that are uploaded directly into Google Campaign Manager.
Unsupported advertising media
Ad media with the following problems are not supported by Google and cannot be approved and delivered.
- Ad media that are not clickable
Test your HTML5 advertising media to ensure that the target URL opens when the ad is clicked. - Ad media with poor quality
These include ads that mimic website content, encourage clicks, do not display a brand or have flashing backgrounds. - Ad media that slow down the device or the browser
These include ads that set more than 25 cookies, contain more than 100 HTTP calls or have a download size of more than 5 MB. - Ad media with activated audio
The sound in the ad media must be switched off and can only be activated by the user.
